Not only does the base keep the ball from rolling while at your desk this unit will connect with an exercise strap for working out. So for approximately $20 (Base and Shipping-shpg about same cost as the base) it's pretty worth it and very satisfied with it and perhaps even a better alternative to a Balance Ball Chair.
