(More customer reviews)To look at the pouch area without anything inside, it appears to lay flat and about the same width as the belt. But looks are deceiving. This pouch holds an enormous amount of things for the size. It stretches to conform. I normally take with me my cell phone, keys, doggie poop bag, kleenex and doggie treats....and there's still a little more room if you want to include an iPod or something like that. The belt is really comfortable and it doesn't ride up like other products I've tried. I've been able to run with this and everything enclosed inside with no problem or bouncing. It's an awesome product. It comes in a lot of different color schemes too. You won't be disappointed.
